What if you reported concerns to both your supervisor and manager in writing several times about issues that are negatively impacting customers (and influencing them to leave your service) but you're ignored. Then one day a customer contacts you and tells you the reason he left your service is because he previously contacted you, you promised to escalate to a manager, you did, but the manager was "too busy" to help and the issue was left unsolved. You still care and obviously when the customer contact you after waiting 4 weeks, you're embarrassed as hell. You communicate this to your supervisor saying it doesn't say much for the integrity of both you (promising the customer a solution but not delivering) and the company but it falls on deaf ears. As a solution, do you: 1. Print out all your correspondence to your immediate managers and present them in person, to their boss 2. Ignore the hierarchy in place (having to report to your supervisor who clearly does nothing) and try to speak with the manager who is responsible for the actual solution 3. ??? Sorry but I'm at my wits end.

Didn't we cover this ground already? Progress up the chain of command until you can secure a party that will take corrective action for the benefit of the Company and the morale of the Staff. If you go as far as you can go and still not get progressive results, time to look for another job for your ultimate happiness and piece of mind. It can be that simple. (End of Line)

Oh ok. While the supervisor can say I've reported it before, this week there was an update and the customer specifiy told me he left because of the foot dragging. The fact my supervisor doesn't reply anymore is equally troubling. So far I haven't address the operations director because I didn't want to go over someone's head and lose my manager's trust (and chance at a reference). But if the customers are suffering and so am I, due to the repeated complaints with no apparent management intervention, thinking about and reporting the problems won't solve anything.

Again... Without rehashing the known particulars, read the last 2 sentences of the former post. If you can't improve the situation that you are in, why continually stress out about it? Seek a work environment that is conducive to a climate that is to your liking...

I understand what you're suggesting Besides ranting about work and trying to influence people into action (with mixed results) - I learned you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink - in my spare time I've been seeing a career counsellor at the college I graduated from. The service is free and I do homework exercises, i.e. researching careers, education choices, etc. so hopefully that will lead me in another more productive direction. I also did personality testing along with a values test where basiy you're given a bunch of cards with work values on them, i.e. -challenge, flexible scheduling, leadership, research work, prestige, influencing others, etc. and you're told to categorize them in 3 columns: values you must have in your job, values that are nice to have, values you don't need for your job. It was obvious my current job does not allow me to make my values a reality and therefore it's better to find a career where I can make an impact, rather than spinning my wheels on repetitive tasks that go nowhere (and don't have the desired result, i.e. managers who care and take action on reported concerns)

I feel your pain But all you can do is deal with it or quit and you don't want to do that right now, it may take six months or longer to find a job. Keep your head up and maybe start looking for a new job.

become management your managers are idiots, and their managers are idiots. you can report all you want, you can do things to improve the situation, you might get a few small things changed, good for you. ultimately if you want to fix things, you will have to move into management. but one thing you cant do is 'fix stupid'.

Choices: 1. Realize that things aren't going to change and find a new job 2. Do the best job you can given the circumstances and stop worrying about it so much. I work in a huge organization where it can be very difficult to get anything done quickly. Therefore, I come in, do what I can and go home. Once this gets tiresome, I'll leave!
