So, she's essentially working 4-6 jobs to make
what her real salary is? On top of that, teachers do at least 10 hours of work a day, and don't even start with me about their three months off, because where I come from, that means three months' worth of no pay or getting a job in retail/flipping burgers. Not kidding. And, I'm sorry, but your friend's story is one out of a million. Most teachers out there are overworked and underpaid. Especially where I come from, which has one of the worst educational systems in the country. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, remember? I definitely grew up in a "weakest link" area. God our system needs an overhaul so bad, so people like you start making what you deserve (like, say, 25K), and people like teachers make more like 60 or 80K, like they deserve (pending good performance, of course).
