YMCA Career Counselling Toronto has anyone taken this? it costs just under $1000 and I don't mind paying the money but wonder what the success rate is like and yes they do have several testimonials on it but who knows if that is a scam

$1000 seems awfully pricey to me I reviewed their website and saw what they have to offer. Not sure about Canada, but here in the states you can get such services free (or for very little) from a variety of non-profits and educational institutions. One thing I did not see...if you pay the $1000, are you guaranteed a job? My guess...probably not.

free gets you zilch I have tried the free one here in Toronto and I don't mean to offend anyone but these are mainly helpful for new Canadians people who have recently immigrated from other countries and it is fabulous these programs exist to help them but it doesn't help me and I was told my skill level was too good to pursue the Second Career program which is very frustrating

It's Not Suppose To Guarantee You A Job... Just as paying thousands (if not millions) of dollars for a college education doesn't guarantee you a job (you're no more qualified than the high school dropout with 20 years of experience). What programs like this and colleges are suppose to do is help you improve yourself as a person. That said, I don't believe it's a scam (after all, it's the YMCA) and I'm sure it's a great program, but $1,000 is a bit much.

Is this a one-time seminar or a on-going program that helps you develop a career? I can't see paying $1000 unless you are enrolling in a program thats more than a one-time show.

it is a class room thing but there are 3 years of follow-up so I think they really are committed to getting you on track I am hesitant because it would be just like me to start this and then get a temp job that looks promising and scrap the whole thing
