I am so tempted to apply for a job for the 3rd time where I worked the temp job. They laid all of us temps off in late Oct. Then they put an ad out for hiring in late Nov. and now in Jan. I applied there and got a refusal, then a week later, I got a temp job there. They said they were going to hire us full-time. Now I just feel like applying to piss them off so they can refuse me again, but I guess they won't care and it would be a waste of time.

Screw it! apply anyway, be a thorn in their side, and at the very least make more work for some receptionist so that she can feel useful.

Not a bad idea. I am contemplating a job down the street that may only be part-time. I bet the pay is awful too, but since I don't have UI, it might be worth a try if they hire me.

Company does not want to pay conversion fee I was also temp and was slated to be hired perm. However, I discovered the company did not want to pay the fee to the agency to convert the temps. to perm. employees. Sucks. Anyway, if you think you have a chance, so ahead apply.

My agency had after no fee 1 year policy Most assignments lasted 6 months. I loved my last temp assignment. 6 miles from home, flex schedule, no excessive socializing, folks were pleasant, professional and actually did their dam jobs.

Damn , that sounds like a dream job That's what I can't stand at my current job. Way too much chit and chat and distractions, to the point where supervisors have to step in and even then - the situations don't change. There's one girl - 21 years old - who said she doesn't give a shit about the PT job. Well STFU already! Just get to work!

Here's the thing they only paid $8.25 an hour. Worked us like slaves to make sure we were doing great customer service, but the s had to be within a certain handle time. I think here 2 months is the max for temps. Then they hired you on for a year at the same $8.25 an hour rate. Jobs here do not pay well, not even for salaried jobs. I have seen jobs at the university for $10 an hour and some less requiring a bachelor's. Pay just sucks!! That is why I went back to school to get a degree in education with an undergrad in Interdisciplinary Programs with a concentration in Linguistics. This is so frustrating.

It is a low paying area of the country. I think it was like this before the Great Recession even, but now it is worse! I think at the university it is a matter of getting your foot in the door. However, what gets me is that they pay these coaches millions a year. It is all about sports. Drives me crazy. They graduated Peyton Manning, but he made it due to other connections.

I didn't know that tidbit. It makes me feel better to know that though. I applied before and still got refused. After the way they treated us, I am not sure I would want to be hired on there. I think I just want to bug them for how mean and demeaning they were to us.

Not a waste of time and it won't piss them off. If you're talking about that huge corporation S____, they will barely remember you're face - if even that. They prolly have tons of employees, contractors and temps. They might even prefer peeps who have worked there in the past (you know the systems, processes, etc.). Just because you got on with a bad lot before doesn't mean that every group sucks. You could get in with a different bunch and actually love the job. You might not ever see anyone you used to work with in that other assignment.
