a military guy that works w/my kid... told me to go to usa.gov i applied for a couple of DOD jobs, lets face it, the only place hiring is the government.

fine print You have to look at the usajob adds real close. A large majority of the postings are future fill positions, you will notice the closing date of them are in late 2010, and they only review the apps after the closing date. Another large portion of the postings are for status candidates, this means this job is meant only for persons who are former military, military spouses, current civilian personel. The rest of the postings are for the general public.

feelindrastic, I would like to change the mood of this thread if you don't mind. Rather than more people replying how boo hoo these 10-20 companies never contacted me, even though you were the perfect, let's use your OP as a springboard for something positive. May I ask what you did to apply to the list of companies you stated? for example: You thought of a list, went to their sites and applied online...then prayed for them to contact you. Or was it more like this? You assembled the list, researched their sites, visited LinkedIn and the other business networking sites, then ed each of them, finding out the Hiring Authority and speaking to them? Do tell. (Shoot I'm starting to sound like HHP, aren't I?)
