Why would someone with an Accounting Degree take a job as a Bookkeeper and not as an Accountant which pays a heck of a lot more? Why would a job post seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk seek someone with a BA in Accounting? As if someone with a BA in Accounting would take a job as an Accounts payable Clerk paying 28 K per year?

Because... 1) If that person wants to be picky about the jobs available to them in this economy, they are in for a rude awakening. 2) The job market is saturated with talent, and a company can demand a list of practiy any qualifications and will have no trouble attracting applicants. I bet there are resumes on that stack from more than one MBA 3) $28k per year is a lot more than $0 per year.

I agree, that too. I just didn't want to say it. I had a great interview yesterday that would report to the VP Finance, and my education and training has all been engineering related.

fair enough... so you have a BA, but be realistic so does 75% of the population seeking employment out there, a entry level job in AP/AR for 28k is reasonable and fair. I have a BA in financial accounting and became a CPA 3 years ago, but have yet to land a job in the field because I lack experience, all 7+ years needed to set foot in a firm and at most the compensation set at 45k.... perhaps your sights are set too high, but good luck!
